The Positions

If you've ever visited an Apple Retail Store the class names of our admin roles will seem very familiar. However, since deviantART is in fact an website dedicated to the art's a few things have been changed from the 'official' Apple definitions of these roles. Here's a proper definition of the duties to be expected by the admins of the #macusers group.

    Genius
Users in this class are expected to respond to notes and comments. They will be required to cover special events such as all major keynotes throughout the year. These include (but are not limited to) iPod events and the WWDC events. Most importantly users in this class are required to spend time in the chatroom #GeniusBar and offer support where ever possible. They will also need to read and approve/deny blogs by the other classes.

    Creative
Users in this class will be required to take care of the Gallery and Favs section of the group. This entails approving or denying deviations and ensuring that everything is in it's correct folder. They will also be expected to write at least one feature journal (per person) a month and are responsible for all contest or general group activities.

    Specialist
Users in this class will be responsible for general blogs and polls. When software updates are release they will be expected to keep group members up to date via the update blog. Should new hardware or software be released these deviants will need to write reviews of these products either hands on or based on other reviews.

Sorry, I've not had a chance to upload them as of yet. I just added the link there for when I'm able to get around to it.

Is there something in particular you had a question about?

; u; I have Sketchbook Pro for my iMac. And I love it. However I use that program for lining/sketching and use PS CS5 for Coloring/Shading. It's a great combination for me. ^ ^ I don't know any other GOOD sketching/drawing programs besides Sketchbook Pro actually.

Yes. But I've only been a FULL BLOWN Mac user for less than a year now [got my first iMac last Christmas]. So I probably wouldn't know as much as an oldie Mac user would. But that's just how I feel.[maybe get the trial of CS5 and see if you like the combo like I do! C:] Sometimes it could be the tablet that can improve your art-skills too. Usually Wacom is what every digital artist goes for.

I'm thinking about buying a Mac for mostly drawing and possibly some work.
What would be a good Mac computer or laptop to buy that won't run me dry of cash?

At least a point in the right direction for what I'm looking for would be nice.

Hello there!
It all depends on what you are looking for. What kind of "drawing" are you doing? Are you someone with a hobby who toys with Photoshop? A student? Professional?

Judging from your gallery, I would say a hobby user.

I would definitely recommend the MacBook Air 11" with a 128gb SSD. It is $999 dollars.

Its a teeny tiny laptop at only 11" - but it has the power of a full sized computer with a full sized keyboard, full OS and great trackpad. The reason why I say get a MacBook Air is because, like all Apple laptops, you can use it like a desktop computer.

Put the computer to sleep by shutting the lid
then plug in an external monitor, speakers mouse and keyboard.
Hit a key on the keyboard.
The laptop wakes up again, but its own screen is turned off and it displays on the external monitor only! It means you only have one computer in your life, and you can still use a desktop setting for drawing. :)

If you want a desktop only and are not bothered about getting a laptop - get a Macmini. Much cheaper but without the laptop factor.

Ah, I've decided already on the Macbook air you mentioned actually.
After asking several people, even a PC guy, they all said Mac considering how much I'm into art and everything dealing with it.
I did not know it can be used like a desktop too, that's really useful info, thank you!
